My Grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 12 years old. Funny story, I wanted to learn so bad that when I didn't own a crochet needle, I used a bobby pin and bent the tip of it into a hook! Sounds crazy, but I was so determined to learn. My Grandmother promised me that she would buy me my first ball of yarn and crochet hook and she did. I had a purple ball of yarn and a purple crochet needle, which I still have and use occassionally today. From there the possibilties were endless! My Grandmother is who inspired me to be so creative. I always think of her when each piece is created.
